Artist and coder Casey Reas writes dynamic, generative software to explore conditional digital systems as a medium. With KNBC, Reas created a continuous, generative collage by manipulating television signals emitting from a local radio tower. By distorting and amplifying the data, Reas’ software created a randomly-coded audio-visual stream — all digitally projected on the gallery wall.
