Created by London-based production company Inition for global fashion retailer Topshop, A Virtual Front Row gave the UK’s fashion faithful an all-access pass to the label’s 2014 Autumn-Winter catwalk show, courtesy of a 360° VR experience. Five contest winners were transported from Topshop’s flagship Oxford Circus store to the Tate Modern’s iconic Turbine Hall — the site of the brand’s London Fashion Week show — via Oculus Rift-assisted live HD streams from the front row and backstage. The virtual immersion remained available to Oxford Circus shoppers on-demand for three days following the event, complete with a time-lapse of the set build and 360° stills taken backstage and by the show’s celebrity guests.
