Created by Superficial and The Museum at FIT , 2019

The Virtual Fashion Archive, produced by the creative studio Superficial, with collaboration from The Museum at FIT, allows users to appreciate the movement of fashion on the body. Through the use of interactive 3D computer graphics users can scale, spin and animate the models to simulate motion, volume, and texture in order to better appreciate the extraordinary design of the garments.
The inaugural collection of the Virtual Fashion Archive features animated digital models of garments by Issey Miyake, Thierry Mugler, and Claire McCardell from the study collection of The Museum at FIT. In addition to the interactive models, short films demonstrate more complex movement as well as how pattern pieces form a final garment.
